Here I was reading NBA Finals webpages when suddenly the child from the TV blurts out, "Bakit di na kayo nagYAYAKULT?"
Out of reflex, my head turns to see what corruption was unfolding. A yogurt drink ad was on. The child in it was addressing the question to his parents.
Two things immediately popped up in my head. (Imagine someone with two "idea" light bulbs, both colored green.) Two separate thoughts each parent might have had if this was a segment on a Filipino gag show.
Dad: "Because I'm already married! And your mom is gorgeous enough pa naman. Maybe in 10 years, anak."
Mom: "It just ain't possible!"
Darn, I never thought I could deliver humor in such a polite way... What the hell just happened?!?
From my previous post, I mentioned that a sound card is an optional upgrade for my PC. Apparently not...
My audio component which served as my desktop speaker broke down. Frustrated with the lack of sound while playing halfway through my NBA Live 2008 Dynasty season, I turned to Tipid PC for help. I ended up buying a brand new Creative SBS 560 5.1 Channel Speaker set for only Php 2,100 (sells for about Php 3,800 elsewhere). Afraid that I wouldn't be able to maximize the speaker system with my motherboard's built-in audio, I immediately scurried through the Gilmore PC shops and got myself the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Value Sound Card. Don't be fooled by the "value" tag attached to it because it by no means comes cheap. In fact, I bought it for Php 150 more than the price I paid for my speakers.
So far, I'm very much satisfied with my audio system. I mean, I've got to be! It's worth five thousand ass-whoopings, you know.
And I know that as soon as I get to set up my speakers all over the corners of our living room, the Dolby Digital experience would be perfect.
By the way, my thanks to Sir Gizmo for the smooth transaction.
I also got hold of 2 modules of 1GB Samsung PC3200 DDR 400 RAM from Open Pinoy. Multi-tasking has never been this convenient.
Furthermore, I finally found someone who's selling the HD 3850 and X1950 XTX AGP cards locally. But damn, they cost Php 11,500 and Php 8,500, respectively. I'd have to upgrade my power supply unit too if I decide to grab a hold of one of these cards. Funds! Funds! Funds!
What the hell is the deal with my obsession for my desktop system anyway?
To quote my friend, Alex: "Me sad..."
Try it. Search for "the weltschmerz vox" and there you'd see what I mean.
Right on top of the search results. Dang!
I don't want the site to be found by people I know personally. Well, I guess I want it to receive acclaim but not explicitly. I hope I'm making sense here.
I've been trying to search around for an ATI Radeon HD 3850 512mb GDDR3 AGP card but couldn't find it anywhere. Typical of the Philippines.
The best AGP card meager Manila-based computer peripheral vendors could come up with is the ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb GDDR2. One actually listed an X1950 but when I asked them about it, they told me they don't have any.
I'd have to resort to shopping online through eBay Philippines. Problem is the vendor only has Paypal as the method of payment. I have a Paypal account but have no affiliated credit/debit card to fully activate it. My debit account with Banco de Oro is Mastercard Electronic and currently isn't accepted. I've read sites saying that only the Unionbank EON card can be set-up with Paypal. Bummer...
Getting the 3850 would delay my migration to PCIE at least two more years. That's really, really beneficial. They say that this card is the best AGP card ever and may even be the last.
The video card is among a short upgrade wishlist for my system. Here are the rest:
- Samsung Syncmaster 2253BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor TFT
2 pcs. 1gb PC400 RAM- Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 (2.4GHz) 800fsb 2mb cache
- A decent UPS - preferrably from APC
A Creative Sound Blaster Card (optional)
Only the Samsung 2253 isn't available in this country. I guess that's good news.
... to write. I've lost the knack for writing, let alone blogging. I have no inspiration at all. Argh... What a way to start my new blog.
Anyway, my regularization as an employee of a major Philippine electrical distribution company is on Sunday. And I have no one to celebrate it with. I mean, I can party with my officemates but that seems too incomplete.
Ah... You know what type of depression is the worst? The one which deprives you of tears. You have no outlet for the emotion. And it grows heavier everyday. I am in that hole right now. I don't even know how I manage to move on.
It's just hard to understand how two people who get along so well that others actually think they are a couple can't bridge the line of friendship. Worse, they end up apart to avoid further damage to one or both parties. The ironies of life... The Weltschmerz falls victim again.
Kudos to Kobe Bryant for finally winning an MVP plum. I disagree that he should've won it years before. Prior to this season, his feats were more for individuality. "Most Valuable Player" is relative to a player's VALUE to his team; how his excellence rubs off on his teammates. This year, Kobe embodies that principle. He has flourished from being the most athletic and talented player to one that is just among the best and the greatest. He definitely deserves it.
A year after leaving the blog world for the second time, here I am resurfacing again (and better than ever? bleh!). Why VOX? Yes, no revenue from Google Adsense, but no one I know personally would be able to find my page. Well, unless they go deep inside the Google search pages and can spell Weltschmerz right, I guess.
Anyway... I hope I could heal wounds here. How cheesy!
To anyone who happens to drop by, I warn you... It ain't going to be pretty...
*edit* I figured out why Google Adsense doesn't show up on my browser. I'm using Mozilla Firefox with AdBlock Plus plugin installed. Started my page up on Opera and the ads show just fine. Just a fit of stupidity. My apologies.
